General Questions About CarSimpleās Consignment Services
1. How long does it typically take to sell a vehicle through CarSimple?
While we canāt guarantee a specific timeline, most vehicles sell within 3 to 6 weeks if priced competitively, based on market demand, condition, mileage, and location. Factors like market trends, buyer financing, vehicle age, and regional demand can influence this. Weāll keep you updated on progress and suggest pricing adjustments if needed to maximize your sale potential.
2. What happens if my vehicle doesnāt sell, and what fees do I owe?
If your vehicle doesnāt sell, there are no ongoing or upfront costs. However, for Onsite listings, youāll owe a $389 reconditioning fee for detailing, emissions testing, and mechanical inspection, plus any authorized repair costs, before we release the vehicle (see Section 4 of the Onsite Agreement). For Offsite listings, there are no reconditioning fees since we donāt perform those services. You can terminate either agreement with written notice (3 days for Onsite, varies for Offsiteāsee Sections 9 of both agreements), and weāll return or stop marketing your vehicle accordingly.
3. How does CarSimple handle loan payoffs and title transfers if I still owe money on my vehicle?
If thereās a loan on your vehicle, weāll pay off the lender directly using the sale proceeds, as outlined in Section 4. Youāll need to provide a 10-day payoff letter and sign a Power of Attorney (POA) form, which weāll mail or assist with electronically if applicable. After settling the loan and deducting our $895 fee, weāll issue you a check for any remaining proceeds within 21 business days of receiving funds. For title transfers, weāll guide you through signing the title (e.g., under āSellerā in Section A for Utah titles) and handle registration for the buyer.
4. What platforms do you use to market my vehicle?
We market your vehicle across major platforms, including KSL, AutoTrader, CarGurus, CarFax, Facebook Marketplace, TikTok, Instagram, and our own website (www.carsimpleonline.com). We also use professional photos, 4K videos, and detailed descriptions to ensure maximum exposure, helping connect you with serious buyers.
5. Can I cancel or terminate the agreement if I change my mind?
Yes, you can terminate the agreement with written notice (3 days for Onsite, varies for Offsiteāsee Sections 9 of both agreements). However, youāll be responsible for any fees owed, such as reconditioning costs ($389 for Onsite) or authorized repairs, before we release the vehicle. Termination is null and void if the vehicle sells before the notice period ends.
Onsite Listing-Specific Questions
6. Whatās included in the Onsite reconditioning process, and why does it cost $389 if the vehicle doesnāt sell?
For Onsite listings, we provide a full reconditioning process, including professional interior/exterior detailing, a third-party mechanical inspection, and emissions certification. This $389 fee (Section 4) covers our costs if the vehicle doesnāt sell, ensuring we donāt incur losses for services like detailing, inspections, and emissions testing. You wonāt pay this unless you terminate or retrieve an unsold vehicle.
7. Do I need to bring personal items out of my vehicle for Onsite listing?
Yes, itās your responsibility to remove all personal belongings, valuable items, and anything you want to keep before we detail the vehicle (see Detailing Service Clause, Section 5). We consider any items left inside as disposable, and weāre not liable for lost items.
8. Can I drive or use my vehicle while itās on your lot?
No, once your vehicle is on our lot, itās driven with our dealer plates, and you canāt use it (see Page 4, Utah Consignment Charges Agreement). We maintain insurance coverage (Section 5), but both parties must agree in writing on permitted uses and responsibility for damage or misuse.
9. What if I want to adjust the price while itās Onsite?
You can request price adjustments anytime, and weāll update the listing accordingly. Weāll provide market insights and recommendations to help maximize your sale while keeping you in control, ensuring your vehicle remains competitive in the market.
Offsite Listing-Specific Questions
10. Can I keep driving my vehicle while itās listed Offsite?
Yes, with Offsite listings, you retain possession and can continue driving your vehicle. Weāll coordinate showings and test drives around your schedule, ensuring flexibility while we market it, with no reconditioning fees or detailing required.
11. How do showings and test drives work if I keep my vehicle Offsite?
Weāll arrange showings and test drives at your location or a nearby spot, using our drivers to handle logistics. Youāll need to ensure the vehicle has sufficient fuel, and weāll manage buyer interactions, coordinating around your availability to minimize disruption.
12. What if I need to cancel a showing or test drive for an Offsite listing?
You can cancel or reschedule showings with reasonable noticeājust let us know via text or call to 385-685-1234. Weāll work around your availability, ensuring minimal disruption while keeping the sale process on track.
13. Is there a difference in marketing between Onsite and Offsite listings?
Both listings receive the same comprehensive marketingāprofessional photos, 4K videos, and exposure on KSL, AutoTrader, CarGurus, etc. However, Onsite vehicles benefit from walk-in traffic at our Springville lot, while Offsite vehicles rely on online and scheduled showings, offering flexibility for sellers who prefer to keep their vehicle.
